A text on the work of Dove Allouche might well be a list of the techniques used by the artist. The caption would change place and, shifted from the apparatus, could be aptly placed at the beginning of the catalogue, here, right where this preface is.

TOMASO DE LUCA – DE ARCHITECTURAE MOTU
Language: En / It
Dimension (Width x Height): 150 x 205 mm
Black & white
Pages: 48
Edition of 100 copies
SOLD OUT

The project by Tomaso de Luca, DE ARCHITECTURAE MOTU, is conceived as an artist’s book as well as an art work. The artist plays with perception and with the viewer. He uses the pages in a way that the viewer has to interact with the book, turning it upside down, moving it as to create an act of motion, which is not only about turning and flipping the pages. The motion concerning the pages of the book moves parallel to the relationship between the body of the artist and architecture, in an attempt of demonstrating the fragmentation and instability of which architecture itself is characterized. MOTU in the body, in the architecture and in the book pages.

The book, edited by Lorenzo Benedetti, is published on the occasion of the artist’s solo show at De Vleeshal, Middelburg. The exhibited project revolves around composer Giacinto Scelsi’s work and involves the singer Michiko Hirayama, by creating an articulated relationship of sound and image. The pages of the book retrace the artist’s perspective of time and space and the inexpressible coincidence between the real and the apparent.

This book is the kick off of the exhibition
AB, Nomas Foundation, Roma, IT

AB, which began as a project on paper has now expanded into 3-dimensions at Nomas Foundation in Rome. The book has been used as a boomerang, which has in turn created the complete circle of dimensions. Maybe more than three.
Using the original travel mates of the journey, and other hitchhikers along the way, a map has been generated. Artworks become orientation points in the space; landmarks used to navigate courses of thoughts in the exhibition. The installment and the production of a rhythm of the exhibition is equatable to the contours of territories on an atlas.
…And if you don’t have a boomerang just use a hat.
