Language: En / De
Dimension: 250 x 250 mm
The book Neomelodica neapolitanische Musik Einflüsse auf die Kunst del letzten 10 Jahre von Emil & Gelb is produced by the artist Gianluca Concialdi (Palermo, IT, 1981) on the occasion of his selection as winning artist of the Menabrea Art Prize 2015. The volume revolves around the research the artist has been conducting since 2012 – along with Emiliano Pistacchi – on the Neomelodic music, a musical style originating in the Italian city of Naples. The starting point of the artists’ investigation is the song È tutto bianco [It’s All White] by Nino Ferretti, reinterpreted by Nino Fiorello in Tradimento bianco [White Betrayal], which is in turn a cover of Modern Talking’s Atlantis Calling. The overlapping of different musical and cultural references, explicitly recalled by the German title (in English The Influences of Neapolitan Neomelodic Music on the Art of the Last 10 Years, curated by Emi & Giallo), is reflected on the structure of the artist’s book. The volume is a collection of photographs taken during a party in an old German tavern, then modified in the style of an old photographer, where the artists are depicted while distributing products of the Neapolitan sport clothing brand GIVOVA. Another fake reference is thus added to the articulated concept of the book.
