For this ninth edition of The Art Room, CURA. welcomes Invernomuto in conversation with the curatorial duo Francesco Urbano Ragazzi.
Invernomuto is the name under which Simone Bertuzzi (Piacenza, 1983) and Simone Trabucchi (Piacenza, 1982) have worked together since 2003. Based in Milan, they develop long-term research projects that unfold across time and space, generating interconnected cycles of work. On a common theoretical basis, Invernomuto tends to think in an open and rhizomatic manner, developing different outputs that take the form of moving images, sounds, performative actions, and publishing projects, within the framework of a practice defined by the use—both diffuse and precise—of different media. Reality is observed through documentary principles and interests, but with the aim of creating an imaginative and almost abstract representation, offering wide margins for reflection and critical interrogation. Their practice explores subcultures, oral histories and popular myths, often blending archival materials with contemporary media. Both artists also develop individual lines of research through their musical projects, Palm Wine and STILL.
Francesco Urbano Ragazzi is a curatorial duo composed of Francesco Ragazzi (International Ph.D. in Philosophy of Art, adjunct professor of Aesthetics) and Francesco Urbano (Ph.D. in Film & Media Studies).
