Agorà 2026: from Rome to the world, the Videocittà marketplace building digital creativity’s international networks
Videocittà
il Festival della Visione e della Cultura Digitale
Press release
On 9 and 10 July, Agorà returns — the marketplace platform of Videocittà, the Festival of Vision and Digital Culture created by Francesco Rutelli, dedicated to bringing together creative studios, artists, companies, producers and professionals working in digital creativity, audiovisual production, immersive experiences, media art, cultural innovation and new technologies applied to creativity.
Agorà 2026, directed by Guido Pietro Airoldi, with institutional relations led by Elena Giacomin, is held with the support of MAECI – the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – and ITA, the Italian Trade Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalisation of Italian businesses.
A key partnership is the one with ITA Agency, which promotes Made in Italy worldwide and states: “This year, ITA Agency renews and expands its collaboration with Videocittà to showcase, through Agorà, Italian excellence in the audiovisual, technological innovation and cultural and creative industries sectors, bringing 40 foreign operators, investors and partners, along with organisations and institutions of global standing. This initiative is indeed strategic and innovative in strengthening, at an international level, the competitiveness of Italy’s creative and digital Made in Italy.”
Agorà 2026 brings to Rome a delegation of more than 40 international operators from 19 countries and 5 continents, offering Italian professionals, creative studios and companies – selected through an open call available on the Videocittà website and on the Instagram profiles of Videocittà and Agorà – a unique opportunity for direct dialogue with international players active in museums, festivals, immersive platforms, cultural institutions, production companies, media and global networks: contacts who can become partners, clients, commissioners, suppliers, co-producers or strategic allies for developing new projects and opening new professional paths.
Italian creativity doesn’t need to be discovered: it needs to meet the right people. That’s exactly why Agorà exists: to turn Rome, for two days, into an international hub where artists, studios and businesses can build real relationships with the world’s leading players in digital creativity. “Seeing projects like Onirica by fuse* and SOLAR by Quayola continue their international journey after passing through this platform is one of our greatest sources of satisfaction. Today, hosting over 40 delegates from nearly 20 countries confirms just how strong this vision is,” says Guido Pietro Airoldi.
Not a general-purpose trade fair, but a boutique marketplace that, over the years, has become one of the leading international meeting points for digital creativity, helping to build a lasting dialogue between the Italian creative scene and some of the most influential players on the global stage.
Through the network of relationships built within Videocittà, Italian artists, creative studios and professionals have forged collaborations that have extended their reach well beyond national borders. Among the most notable examples: the monumental installation SOLAR by Quayola, first presented at Videocittà and later staged by The Bentway in Toronto; Quiet Ensemble’s presence at NOOR Riyadh and their subsequent return to Rome through a connection with Dorothy Di Stefano; the trajectory of studio Ultravioletto, which first reached Art Basel and later spent two years at Artechouse New York; performances by Franz Rosati and Massimiliano Mascaro at Sónar+D; as well as relationships built with iconic light festivals such as Fête des Lumières, and new players redefining the fields of light art and immersive art, such as DARKROOM Exhibition in Berlin.
Building on this foundation, Agorà 2026 strengthens its international outlook, bringing to Rome some of the industry’s most respected organisations: teamLab, one of the world’s most celebrated international collectives in immersive experiences and digital art, with museums and permanent installations across Asia and the Middle East; Qatar Museums, the foremost institution for art and culture in Qatar, active through museums, heritage sites, festivals, public programmes and major public art projects; Sónar+D, Sónar’s platform dedicated to the meeting of creativity, innovation, technology, music and new digital languages; MUTEK, the international festival born in Montréal and devoted to electronic music, digital creativity and audiovisual performance; and Asia Culture Center, the Korean international hub for production, research and cultural exchange between contemporary arts, technology and new creative practices.
The delegation also includes organisations such as ArtScience Museum Singapore, PHI, The Royal Commission for Riyadh City, Shanghai Art+ Art Fair, Bluescreen, Doha Film Institute, Arab News, TouchDesigner, Diriyah Art Futures, Media Majlis Museum, Light Art Space (LAS), Nxt Museum, CODAworx, Fête des Lumières, Signal Festival, The Bentway, Molten Immersive Art, OUCHHH, Palacio Libertad, OFFF Barcelona, Rencontres Audiovisuelles, Diversion XR, IKT Curatorial, Cao Yuxi Studio, UNIDO Creative Hub Ethiopia, and numerous other operators from Europe, North America, the Middle East, Asia, Oceania and Africa.
Agorà 2026 also welcomes Filmmaster S.p.A. as Strategic Partner. Founded in Rome in 1976, Filmmaster is today one of Italy’s most internationally recognised names in the production and creative direction of major events, live entertainment, large-scale international ceremonies and branded content. Among its most notable projects in recent years is the production of three editions of NOOR Riyadh — the largest light art festival in the world — with Filmmaster having curated the entire festival in its latest edition, from concept through curation to executive production. The involvement of a player like Filmmaster in Agorà strengthens the dialogue between Italian excellence and the leading international operators in the digital and contemporary art sector.
