Votiva is not merely the contemporary art collection of the town of Parabita. It strives to retrieve forgotten fragments of history by breathing new life into them.
Votiva is not merely the contemporary art collection of the town of Parabita. It strives to retrieve forgotten fragments of history by breathing new life into them. It aims to revitalise the community space; to foster reflection, dialogue and participation and to engage with the lasting presence of artworks in the everyday. Installed in the votive shrines scattered throughout the town’s streets, Votiva is the result of a cultural and social experiment involving sixteen Italian and international artists. It has created a constellation of diverse visual experiences and hopefully a fertile ground for the regeneration of the community fabric.
