This book documents the first three years of garage BENTIVOGLIO, a street-facing exhibition space embedded in Palazzo Bentivoglio, Bologna, conceived as a place of encounter between the collection, the city, and its passers-by. Operating through a single glass window and without explanatory wall texts, the garage replaces interpretation with looking, staging each exhibition as a frontal image that exists simultaneously in physical space and on screens.

Between 2023 and 2026 the garage hosted a sequence of tightly focused presentations ranging from contemporary art to twentieth-century design and historical objects. Works by artists and designers such as Irene Fenara, Ilmari Tapiovaara, Matteo Nasini, Luisa Aiani and Ico Parisi, Agostino Iacurci, Pablo Bronstein, Ettore Sottsass, Edmund de Waal, Aldo Rossi, Massimo Morozzi, Piero Fornasetti, Massimo Iosa Ghini, Eva and Franco Mattes, Anita Klinz and Vittorio Introini, Francesco Trabucco and Marcello Vecchi, and others were re-read through the constraints of the window, where depth is flattened and objects become part of an urban visual field.

Rather than offering a retrospective or a survey, the book follows the rhythm of the project itself: a sequence of appearances and disappearances, in which each display exists only temporarily before giving way to the next. Through photographs and texts, the volume records this continuous process of substitution and renewal, preserving the memory of installations that were conceived to be provisional, contingent, and inseparable from the act of being looked at.
